The Microbiology Department was pleased to host a two-day workshop on comparative genomics taught by Prof. Valerie de Crecy-Lagard and assisted by Dr. Jennifer Thiaville, from the University of Florida (Department of Microbiology and Cell Science). UGA faculty members and graduate students were trained to use SEED, a comparative genomics database and workbench. Financial support was provided by the National Science Foundation (grant MCB-1153413) and the department. We are grateful for additional assistance from Kelsey Hodge and Chelsey VanDrisse, UGA graduate students.
