Microbiology Undergraduate Lab Assistant (MULA)

Responsibilities: During your assigned lab session(s), tasks may include providing educational support to current students, troubleshooting experiments, helping organize supplies, cleaning areas of the lab, and helping provide feedback on how to improve the courses overall. You will work closely with the Graduate Teaching Assistant and the Instructor of the lab, including a weekly prep meeting. Assistants will be paid as Unit-PLAs $11.75/hr, including assigned lab session times, 1 hour prep meeting, and 1 additional hour of outside of class personal preparation time. This can be anywhere from 4-10 hours per week, depending on how many sections you are assisting for.


Eligibility: To lab assist for MIBO2500L sections, you need to have completed MIBO2500L or MIBO3500L. To lab assist for MIBO3500L sections, you need to have completed MIBO3500L or have prior experience as a MULA. To lab assist for MIBO3510L, you need to have completed MIBO3510L. Student will need a minimum GPA of 3.25 and have earned a B or higher in the course.

MULAs will need to take UNIV1204 - Preparing for Peer Learning or an equivalent course prior to or during their position as a MULA.
